Knights Add Clemens

Last night the Harlan Knights added Cy Young candidate Roger Clemens to their roster in exchange for top prospect Anthony Reyes. Clemens joins a staff which already includes Dontrelle Willis, Tim Hudson, Bartolo Colon, & Brett Myers. The Knights currently hold a double-digit lead in the standings with a month left to go, but still pulled the trigger on the deadline deal.

"We were in a situation where we were going to probably lose Anthony in the offseason anyway," said owner Derek Harlan. "With Ryan (Zimmerman) playing the way he is at Harrisburg (Class AA) it's looking like he's headed to D.C., which means both he and Anthony will have major league experience. And quite frankly, as good as Reyes looks, you just don't let go of guys like Zimmerman. I mean, in Spring Training this guy is playing at the University of Virginia and come September he's in the bigs? Wow."

A new league rule regarding rookies allows each team to keep up to three rookies, but only one of those three is allowed to have major league time.

Clemens will not make his first official start for the Knights until next week, but is looking forward to the stretch run. "Sure I'm excited-this is why you play-to play for a championship. Hopefully I can keep things going in the right direction and keep my strikeouts up and my WHIP low," stated Clemens.

The Knights only baseball title came in 1998 when they were lead by league MVP Kevin Brown.
