Week 12 MVRL Predictions

Hey, it's Thanksgiving. Time to be thankful and stuff. I'm thankful for going 3-3 with my picks last week and moving to 32-34 on the year. I'm also thankful for TQ's blog entry yesterday on his tips for enjoying your Thanksgiving Day meal(s). I'm also thankful for Marc Bulger's injury. What!? Can I say that? I may be alone here, but I believe the Rams are a better team without a good QB. Why? They run the ball. They're forced to. That's why they beat Jacksonville a few weeks ago. I knew they'd lose to Seattle-they had all their "stars" back in Bulger, Bruce, & Holt and can't resist throwing it 60 times a game. Speaking of which, why do teams fall behind by two touchdowns (and this is league-wide) and insist on ignoring the run, saying they "need a quick score." It's two touchdowns. Unless you're playing the Colts, the other team isn't going to score every time they have the ball. Sorry for the soapbox, but I am amazed at some of the coaching decisions around the league. This year I don't know what's been worse: the coaching or the CBS/FOX announcing. Enough already. Here's all you really want to know anyway...

Hudnall @ Hoffman
Hud's lost two in a row, but look for that streak to stop this week as he gets nice games from Steve Smith and the Colts D. This one won't be decided until late Monday night, but I'm picking the Girlymans. Hud 75, Hoffman 68.

Fagan @ Harlan
The Puffins have won nine in a row, but will know by Thursday night that their chances for win number ten are slim, as the Crapshoot have four guys in action Thursday. I'm thinking Jason Witten is due for a big game and I'm not betting against the guy who had a story in Wednesday's Post-Dispatch (he did, check it out). Fagan 80, Harlan 76.

Scott @ Daniels
I think this is a good matchup. I like the RBs in this one-Steven Jackson for Scott and Kevin Jones for Daniels. It looks like Scott is getting all his bad luck out of his system this year, so I'll pick the Double Down in a nailbiter. Daniels 98, Scott 95.

TQ @ Al
Look for Mr. Quinn to wake up from his post-meal nap and find out that he has a substantial lead over the Baggers as five of his guys are in action today. I don't think Al will be able to catch up on Sunday and TQ is in the playoffs. TQ 93, Al 78.

Big P @ Lil P
What could be more uncomfortable for Troy than sitting at the dinner table Thursday and hearing your brother take his turn by saying, "This year I'm thankful that Roy Williams got hurt in the 2nd quarter of today's game, making my chances to beat Troy this week that much better." This could easily occur this afternoon as the Pietsch brothers do battle in week 12. I think Ryan is due for a big week and will actually earn his win this time. Big P 81, Lil P 74.

Wes @ Terry
Here's your game of the week. This one should be interesting as first place in the White division is up for grabs. Each team has won four in a row and I think Wes makes it five as he gets big games from the killer D's-Droughns and Driver-to sneak past Shaun Alexander and the Rampage. Wes 108, Terry 92.

In closing, I'd like to say good luck to everyone and a Happy Thanksgiving. If you're traveling, be safe. If you're lucky, you'll hear this on your radio at some point in the day from the great Adam Sandler, which really sums up this day quite well (not really, but whatever):

Turkey for me

Turkey for you
Let's eat the turkey
In my big brown shoe
Love to eat the turkey
At the table
I once saw a movie
With Betty Grable
Eat that turkey
All night long
Fifty million Elvis fans
Can't be wrong
Turkey turkey doo and
Turkey turkey dap
I eat that turkey
Then I take a nap
