Puffins Notebook: Playoff bound

The Puffins made no claims or pickups this week. The team did add WR Kevin Curtis over the weekend. He was dropped by the Benchpressers to make room for RB Travis Henry. GM Derek Harlan was quick to add him to the roster, dropping TE Jermaine Wiggins in the process. "We have liked Kevin all along and didn't have to think twice about bringing him back," Harlan said. "At this point there aren't many difference-makers out there, but if Holt or Bruce get hurt, Curtis is possibly our #3 wideout."

In other news...
...despite dropping their final two games of the regular season, the Horned Puffins enter the playoffs as the #1 seed. The team has two weeks to get ready for their semifinal matchup against one of the following teams: Benchpressers, Burrowing Owls, Creamers, and Double Down...Sunday's loss to the Buffet Boys may have been what the team needed prior to the playoffs. Said WR Deion Branch, "Man, losing sucks. I know we ain't going out like that." Branch didn't score a point in Sunday's loss...QB Tom Brady, an admitted St. Louis Cardinals fan, on A.J. Burnett's signing with the Blue Jays, "He's no different than anyone else in baseball these days. That's what's killing the sport as a whole-too many A.J. Burnetts and not nearly enough Chris Carpenters"...when asked if he had a preference as to who the Puffins face in week 15, RB Thomas Jones said, "I don't care. I'm just happy to be playing in week 15. The Creamers are always tough this time of the year, but so is every other team that makes the playoffs"...Maddogs' GM Scott Quinn has gone on record saying that there is a decent chance Eli Manning will be protected next year. That's bad news for Horned Puffin fans hoping to see Eli back in the baby blue next season. Fans will probably be disappointed even more when they learn that the organization is leaning towards keeping Tom Brady, which would rule out any chance of the team drafting Eli or the much beloved Carson Palmer.
