Week 13 MVRL Predictions
This blog has gotten brutal. Fun fact after fun fact and that's it. I'm in a blogging slump. I'm thinking I need to get some advice from my fellow bloggers, so if you have any ideas or suggestions, please let me know. Maybe my slump is due to the weather. I hate the cold. If it weren't for my birthday, my wife's birthday, our anniversary, and Christmas, December would suck. Mr. Quinn, you got a spare bedroom out there?
Okay, time to focus. Big weekend in the NFL, but who cares? Bigger weekend in the MVRL. That's what matters. Here's a look at the games as I attempt to end the regular season with a .500 record (36-36 thus far)...
Crapshoot @ Girlymans
The last time I get to type Girlymans and I'm gonna miss that name. Both clubs are 5-7 and, unlike the NFL, the winner will have a better chance of a higher draft pick. Looking at Hud's reserves sums up his season-Corey Dillon, Nate Burleson, and the Patriots D. All taken off the board early and all have been big disappointments (I'm not dogging you Hud, I have two of the three in other leagues and they've killed me too). Fagan's up-and-down season could end on a high note if QB Ryan Fitzpatrick matches last week's performance. Keep in mind though that he's facing the Redskins and not the Texans. Hud 100, Fagan 90.
Horned Puffins @ Buffet Boys
The Puffins have secured the #1 seed and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. The Buffet Boys have endured one of the toughest seasons in franchise history. Next year should be a different story as they come to draft day with two stud RBs and some extra draft picks. They are bigtime underdogs this week, but I'll pick them for the upset as the Puffs rest some of their their playmaking WRs (Thanks Coach Dungy). Hoffman 78, Harlan 70.
Burrowing Owls @ Kamikaze Maddogs

The only question remaining for the playoffs is the seeding. TQ locked up a spot last week by defeating former co-owner Al Karch. This week he faces his son and has his work cut out for him. Scott has been the unluckiest owner an RFL season has ever seen. I think he finishes his season on a high note and looks to an offseason decision on whether or not to keep Eli Manning and Jeremy Shockey. Scott 95, TQ 85.
Carpetbaggers @ Double DownIt appears Kurt Warner has finally settled in as an Arizona Cardinal and with the Double Down. Since Daniels picked him up he's been on fire. A Double Down win and an Owls loss would give Daniels the #3 seed in the playoffs. Don't ask me where Daniels is if both he and TQ win because I don't know. The Baggers, meanwhile, have added some picks in next year's draft and will look to build around WR Anquan Boldin. Daniels 85, Al 81.
Creamers @ BenchpressersIt doesn't get much better than this in the final week of the regular season. The Pressers are hoping to be on the other end of things this time (Pietsch beat Wes in week 3) and make the playoffs seedings more complicated. I think it's about time for Jake Plummer to start throwing some dumb passes, but for some reason, Pietsch is tough to beat this time of year. I'll take him in a close one. Ryan 83, Wes 82.
Pietschskins @ Rampage

The logoless Rampage can win the White and get a first round bye with a win over Troy. I think that the Pietschskins have the matchups in place to pull off the upset, but needs big games from Buckwheat, Willis McGahee, and all his WRs to get it done. Troy will likely be a preseason top 3 team with his stud RB keepers and extra picks. For Terry, this loss may help as he gears up for his first taste of the MVRL playoffs. Troy 82, Terry 74.
Good luck to all!

I've been the same way, Derek. See my saguro and birds blogs. Maybe Scott has the right idea with a scheduled format. But it is fun and forces me to think. Yup, I have a spare bedroom anytime for the Harlans. I even have another one across the hall for Brooks and later on the new guy. I loved the Sadler Turkey Song. Good luck in the playoffs. TQ
Scheduled columns is the way to go. At TKN, it's almost always:
The Top Five on Monday
Cheerleader of the Week on Tuesday
News and Notes on Wednesday
NFL Picks on Thursday
LOST Rundown on the LOST blog on Friday
Kamikaze Maddogs lineup article on Saturday
Then anything else I feel like writing is added when I feel like it (which is "gravy" for the site).
