Week 14 (playoffs-round 1) MVRL Predictions

It's that time of year again. The playoffs, baby! The fastest 13 weeks of the year are already over and half of the league is finished. After Monday, a couple more will be checking Schnucks for Street and Smith's Baseball Preview. While the Puffins and Rampage have an extra week to decide who to start, the Pressers, Owls, Double Down, and Creamers are all in action. Here's a look at the two games...

Benchpressers (7-6) @ Burrowing Owls (8-5)
This matchup has the makings of a painful Monday night for both Wes and Mr. Quinn, who will watch three of his studs (Vick, Dunn, & Crumpler) against the Saints on primetime. I'm sure Wes will end the day Sunday with a decent lead and, in all honesty, he'd better, because the Saints D isn't exactly da Bears.
For Wes, I like Palmer to stay hot and I like Tiki Barber and Donald Driver in their games as well. But I'm thinking that Reuben Droughns is going to be facing a team daring the Browns to run, which may make for a tough day. The other thing about the Pressers is that they may be questioned for going with two newcomers in a big game. Marques Tuiasosopo and the Raiders D get the start as the Raiders play the pathetic Jets. The J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets are B-A-D, bad, bad, bad, but playing an unproven QB may haunt Wes if he loses. Jesse Palmer anyone?
For TQ, he's got the Seahawks D coming off a 381-point night against the Eagles, Brad Johnson against the Rams D, who couldn't stop the MV Rams O, and a finally-healthy Julius Jones. I think that it's deja-vu all over again for Wes as he is eliminated from the playoffs late Monday night.
Owls 90, Pressers 82.

Double Down (8-5) @ Creamers (9-4)
This one should be fun as well. Daniels and Pietsch are two of the better owners around and have put together great teams. There are a lot of similarities between the two teams, as they both have two solid QBs in the lineup (Warner & McNair for Daniels; Plummer & Favre for Pietsch), an excellent group of RBs and WRs (actually, the edge goes to Daniels, but remember that Pietsch has the best TE in Gates), and good defenses (Daniels-Bears, Pietsch-Steelers). So what gives? They both have good matchups this week and I expect that a lot of points will be scored in this game as well. I don't see Kurt Warner, DeShaun Foster, or Chad Johnson slowing down this week for Daniels, and I don't see Favre, Plaxico, or Gates slowing down for Pietsch. I think this one will be a bit closer than the other game, and while part of me says Daniels is the pick, another part knows that Pietsch has a way of winning this time of the year.
Creamers 88, Double Down 83

Best of luck to each of you!
