Puffins swing trade with Buffet Boys
In a move to add depth at the RB position, the Horned Puffins have dealt RB Marion Barber to the Buffet Boys in exchange for RB Chris Brown. Included in the deal was a swapping of picks in next year's reserve draft. Hoffman will receive Harlan's 1st round reserve draft pick in exchange for Hoffman's 2nd round reserve draft pick. Should Harlan pick six or more spots ahead of Hoffman, then the two will just exchange 1st rounders. Clear as mud, right? The trade was the second in three days for the Horned Puffins, who had targeted Brown for several weeks.
"We had some preliminary discussions with Eric about Brown a week or so ago," said GM Derek Harlan. "We had some concerns about our depth at that (RB) position and wanted to do some things prior to the deadline to strengthen ourselves there. We liked the job Reuben was doing, but felt we could upgrade. With Marion splitting carries with Julius Jones, we wanted a guy who we could count on if someone goes down and the price was right for Chris."
Brown is excited to be joining his former division rival.
"It ain't like it's a bitter rivalry or anything, but it is still a big deal when we play each other," said Brown. "But I'm excited. I just hope I can help take the team to the next level."
