TMC-Week 10

Welcome to the evening edition, actually the late night edition, of TMC. Sorry this is getting posted so late, but it's been a busy day at the Cove.

Week 10 is in the books, capped off by the 4th Roy Williams TD of the weekend. I feel for Donovan McNabb. He's a good guy, has taken the high road throughout the whole T.O. mess, and now this? He deserves better.

How many of you enjoyed watching the replay of the missed FG in the 49ers/Bears game Sunday? I'm not talking about the one returned 108 yds for the TD. I'm talking about the one that went from right to left (and in a hurry) across your TV screen. That was some good comedy.

Finally, and I hate to bring it up, but what happened to the Rams? The fake FG was Martzesque. I couldn't believe they actually ran that fake. If your gonna go for it, line up in two-tight, and boot out and hit the TE on the drag. Doesn't that play work 99.9% of the time in the NFL in short yardage situations? Give Seattle credit though. It only took Mike Holmgren four years to figure out he should pound it with Shaun Alexander. Hopefully, it won't take the Rams that long to realize they have a guy who could be Shaun Alexander in Steven Jackson.

Moving along...I didn't like being .500 with my picks, so I went 2-4 this week to get back to under-.500 with a 29-31 record. Here's a look at each of those games...

Rampage 104, Girlymans 53 (Ram 91, Girly 79)
One of two I got right. Hud got a nice effort from the Colts D (17 pts) and his kickers (19 pts combined), but it wasn't neeeaaarly enough in this one. Terry got huge games from the Panthers D (34 pts) and Shaun Alexander (28 pts) to go along with solid efforts from Joey Galloway (16 pts) and Marc Bulger (14 pts) to stay in the hunt for a division title.
Game ball goes to-Shaun Alexander. It's tough to not give it to the Panthers D, but Alexander was the man against the Rams, going for 174 yds and 3 TDs. 28 pts.

Crapshoot 97, Pietschskins 88 (Skins 80, Crap 75)
I missed on this one, but it wasn't WR Roy Williams's fault as he went off for a 25-spot. He didn't get much help though. Meanwhile, Fagan got points from everyone except Andre Johnson, including six (Matt Jones, Westbrook, Scobee, Harrington, & Lions D) in double figures.
Game ball goes to-Brian Westbrook. His big Monday Night performance made the comeback against Troy happen. 118 total yds and a TD for 13 pts.

Double Down 76, Buffet Boys 52 (DD 88, BB 77)
The gameday trade jinx strikes again! This time Kelly Holcomb and Cedric Benson are the victims (and Daniels too). However, the Peyton and Larry show didn't quite have enough juice to pull off the upset. Daniels had five guys score between 12-14 points (Lee Evans, Randy Moss, Bears D, McMichael, and Warner) to lead a balanced attack.
Game ball goes to-Kurt Warner. Warner threw for just 1 TD, but piled up 359 total yds, good for 14 pts.

Horned Puffins 87, Carpetbaggers 42 (Al 79, D 69)
The QBs & RBs continue to carry the Puffs as Eli, Brady, Gado, & Droughns combine to score 67 of the team's 87 points. As a reward for their work, Eli and Droughns have been traded. See ya!
Game ball goes to-Sam Gado. The New Nigerian Nightmare (Triple N) totaled a buck-oh-eight in yds and scored 3 TDs. 25 pts.

Creamers 58, Maddogs 56 (Dogs 100, Creamers 90)
The Creamers probably did just that around 11 p.m. Monday night when Terry Glenn hauled in a TD pass from Drew Bledsoe. This wasn't the prettiest game, but I'm sure Pietsch will take it. Even though Scott's selling, don't scratch off his team from the list of playoff hopefuls just yet.
Game ball goes to-Terry Glenn. 2 catches for 21 yds and a TD. 6 pts. Not impressive stats, but was that TD huge.

Benchpressers 120, Owls 102 (Owls 110, BP 99)
I'm guessing that after watching Bill Parcels give the ball to Marion Barber all night instead of Julius Jones, TQ has probably removed Coach Parcels from his Christmas card list. The Pressers held on for the win last night thanks to big efforts Sunday from the Jags D, Tiki, Gonzalez, Greg Jones, & Chambers. That's too bad because I was really hoping to get my hands on Carson Palmer. (Not literally...well, kinda...)
Game ball goes to-Jags D. 3 picks, 1 returned for a TD (by LB Mike Peterson), 4 sacks, & both yardage bonuses. 33 pts.

Congrats to those of you who won and my apologies, as usual, to those of you who proved me wrong by winning when I picked against you. A special congrats to the MV Rams on an amazing season. Though Saturday's loss stings, the memories of those eleven wins will last a lifetime. Won't they Hud, Pietsch?
