Week 2 MVRL Predictions
Some interesting games on tap for this weekend, both in the NFL and MVRL. Going old school with the Cowboys & Redskins on Monday Night Football. The Rams face the one who led them to the Promised Land. And let's not forget the Raidaahs & Chiefs on Sunday Night Football. Locally, we have Al & TQ facing each other as are the Pietsch brothers. Should be fun. Enough of the intro-here are my picks.
Hitters @ Buffet Boys
What did I learn last week? Not to bet against Peyton Manning. What am I going to do with this pick? Bet against Peyton Manning. I know I shouldn't, but we all do things we shouldn't do don't we? Here's my thinking: After watching what Willie Parker did to the Titans last week, you think Jamal Lewis is licking his chops right now? I think so too. I think the Raiders D may not be quite as bad as advertised, so I'm not seeing Priest Holmes put up a 30-spot this week. McNabb's injury may make it close, but I'm going with my gut on this one. Hitters 78, Boys 74.
Kamikaze Maddogs @ Double Down
A possible Championship Game showdown in Week 2 and one team will exit 0-2? Wow. This is your game of the week and should be a slugfest. I actually like Leftwich's numbers against the Colts and I'd like to think that Steven Jackson learned a little bit last week about hitting holes. On the other hand, could Father Time be chasing Curtis Martin? I love Cadillac and the DD's WRs, but I'm not sure it'll be enough. Plus, the coin I just flipped came up in favor of Scott. 'Dogs 109, DD 105.
Burrowing Owls @ CarpetbaggersI wish TQ and Al weren't both nice guys. If they weren't we could turn this game into an event like when Hulk Hogan & Macho Man Randy Savage had their falling out and Miss Elizabeth was caught in the middle of it and they went at it like five times in a month's time frame (all of which, I believe, were on Saturday Night's Main Event). Anyhoo, I like the Owls here. I'm not sold on Michael Bennett, but I'd like to have Culpepper & Brees as my two QBs. Meanwhile, Donald Driver is the number one target of Brett Favre and Julius Jones gets formally introduced to all of America on Monday Night Football. Owls 87, 'Baggers 81.
Creamers @ Pietschskins

Is the postgame party going to be hosted by Nat or will it be at the "Afterdark?" Will Brandon be waiting tables? Sorry, I was just curious. Carson Palmer looked good in Week 1. Willie Parker was everyone's choice for player of the week and they both have favorable matchups this week, but Antonio Gates is returning to action and Brett Favre gets Palmer's Week 1 victims. I may not be sold on J.J. Arrington, but this week it doesn't matter. Sorry Troy, but I like big bro this time. Creamers 90, 'Skins 80.
Benchpressers @ Rampage
If Shaun Alexander wasn't going against a tough Falcons D I'd pick the upset here, but unfortunately for us all I see Wes holding onto his spot in his own power rankings. His team is balanced and if Kurt Warner ever had a game to be pumped up for I'd say this is it. Sorry guys, but the 'Pressers are the pick. Benchpressers 98, Rampage 85.
Crapshoot @ Horned Puffins
I'm not going to be a homer on here. I'm not going to sandbag either. I'm going to call 'em like I see 'em. I don't think I'm going to pull this one out. I do have a chance, but I like Fagan's matchups (what's the record for most times using a word in a blog?)-especially the Eagles D at home against the 49ers. Plus, he has Witten and Portis going in primetime monday night. Anyway, it looks as though this division will have four teams 1-1 after Week 2...you know what? Screw it-if I'm picking two other '92 Rams I may as well pick a third. Puffins 94, Crapshoot 87. Why not?
So there you have it. Good luck to all and if I pick you to lose don't worry about it-my apology will come Tuesday morning!
