Puffins Notebook: Gus returns to team

The Horned Puffins, as well as five other teams, were unsuccessful in their attempt to claim Rams' QB Ryan Fitzpatrick. Moving along to Plan B, the team picked up Gus Frerotte to take the place of the injured Byron Leftwich. This is Frerotte's second stint with the Puffins this year.
"I'm excited, but at the same time, I know my chances of seeing the lineup are slim to none," said Frerotte. "I'm an insurance policy, but if we win it all I still get a ring, don't I?"

In other news...
...the team was none too excited to hear Colts' head coach Tony Dungy announce that he would rest his stars once the team clinches home-field advantage for the playoffs. "Does he not understand how many millions are counting on his guys to post big numbers in weeks 14, 15, and 16?" asked GM Derek Harlan...Leftwich was bummed about his injury, but vows to return next year stronger than ever. "I know I can take my game to another level and this injury will just be one more thing I'll have to overcome," said Leftwich...the loss to Fagan makes the Puffins 0-2 vs. the Crapshoot and undefeated vs. the rest of the league. One other note on the loss-the 100 points scored in the loss marked just the third time all year the Puffins have reached the century mark in a week. The team has not had the high point total once all year, yet remain second in the league in total points scored. "I think it shows that, for the most part, we've been a pretty consistent team," said Harlan. "Obviously we've gotten lucky a few times during the streak, but at this point we want to continue to be consistent." The team faces the Buffet Boys in the regular season finale this week...speaking of points scored, how 'bout this: the league's high point team has been a White division team 9 of the 12 weeks. The Rampage, Creamers, and Benchpressers have had the high total three times each...Tom Brady shrugged off his bad day in KC on Sunday when he threw four INTs saying, "I got ahold of some bad turkey on Thursday. Bad turkey...mess you up..."...no word on the Eli/cheerleader fiasco. Harlan told insiders that he hasn't talked to Maddogs owner Scott Quinn, but would try to following the season. Hey, we know this much, if Eli did something crazy, he'd tell us. We're not calling the chick a liar, but c'mon. Every girl in New York wants Eli and we think that the girl made up the whole thing. But stranger things have happened...stay tuned.
