Puffins Notebook: Driver added
After weeks of looking for a viable option at WR, the Horned Puffins have pulled the string on a deal with the Pietsch Creamers. On Friday, the team agreed to send QB David Carr and a 2nd round pick in next year's draft in exchange for WR Donald Driver."We're happy to have added a quality guy in Donald," stated GM Derek Harlan. "We hate to start trading picks at this point in the season, but really needed to get a deal done before week 8 and we feel we've made a solid deal."
This will be Driver's second time around with the team as he was a Puffin earlier in the decade.
In other news...
...the team has been pleased with recent free agent pickups Leon Washington and Wali Lundy. "They have performed well with the opportunity they've been given so Willis (McGahee) really needs to get his game going if he wants to stay in the lineup," said Harlan...congrats to the St. Louis Cardinals. They weren't given much of a chance by the New York media (or anyone else, but I like taking shots at NY when possible), but proved the "experts" wrong by finishing off the Tigers Friday night. The team has some tough decisions to make this off-season, but it'll be nice for Walt (Jocketty) to review his notes on paper with "2006 World Series Champions" letterhead...WR Mark Clayton on beginning his second stint with the team this year: "If I don't have 80 yards or a TD this week I know I'm gone come Wednesday, but I know that coming in, so it's on me to get it done." Well said Mark. You are paying a nightly rate at the hotel and not weekly, right Mark?
