Week 14 (Round 1 Playoffs) predictions
I know that this is completely off the subject, but Jason Marquis 3 years, $21 million? Gil Meche 5 years, $55 million? J.D. Who 5 years, $70 million? Gary Mathews Jr 5 years, $55 million? I know that some Cardinal fans are upset that Walt Jocketty hasn't filled two spots in the rotation, but c'mon? This spending falls somewhere between silly and insane.
Carpetbaggers @ Double Down
The Double Down took two from the Baggers in the regular season. They say it's tough to beat a good team three times, but this is fantasy football. Besides, someone else once said that it's tough to beat a good team once.
I've liked each of these teams all year. I think Daniels has a legit POY candidate in Frank Gore (taken in the reserve draft, mind you) and a great defense in the Bears. Of his two QBs, Jon Kitna has a better matchup this week than Carson Palmer and Roy Williams may have 250 receiving yards against the Vikes.
Al, on the other hand, has a POY candidate of his own in Drew Brees. No one is questioning his decision to protect him which, as it turns out, was as wise a move as Daniels grabbing Gore in the reserve draft. Al's already received a big game from RB Willie Parker on Thursday and should get another one from Rudi Johnson. The question mark I have is around Michael Vick. I'm not sold on him as a fantasy QB. Because of this I'm picking Daniels to get that third win over Al.
Double Down 95, Carpetbaggers 84.
Rampage @ Horned Puffins
These teams did not play in the regular season. The Rampage dropped their last three to limp into the playoffs, while the Puffins lost their finale to Hudnall. Milt's the defending champ and is 2-for-2 at making the postseason. So what gives?
Milt may have some question marks at QB this week, but not at RB. The Puffins are set at one RB spot, but not at the other. Willis McGahee is a game-time decision. Can LDT continue his torrid streak of TDs? He has single-handedly made many fantasy teams contenders, regardless of the rest of the lineup. For the Puffins to advance, the corps of WRs must step up. This includes Andre Johnson, who literally did nothing last week. The X-factor is Eli Manning. He hasn't played well on the road and until last week hadn't done much since Halloween. The Giants have to win today and he must play well for them to do that. Therefore, he's in the lineup.
I don't have a real good feeling about this game. I know LDT is great, but he has to come back down to earth at some point. The supporting cast hasn't offered much support this year and after all, Milt is the defending champ. He's the pick.
Rampage 94, Puffins 79.
last week: 4-2
season: 38-40
