Puffins Notebook: Back on top

Following week 3's dramatic come-from-behind victory over the Hitters, the Puffins moved into an Orange division first-place tie with Hud's team as they moved to 2-1 on the year. The Puffins move out of division play this week as they take on TQ's 2-1 Burrowing Owls. "We know we gotta bring it every week," said the team's leading receiver Andre Johnson. "This week ain't no different. TQ's teams are always ready to go. Plus they comin' off a big win last week. We just tryin' to keep takin' positive steps towards the playoffs."

In other news...
this week marked the first week the team did not alter its roster. "We did put a claim in on Jones-Drew, but didn't figure we'd get him," stated GM Derek Harlan. "We didn't really think that there was anyone else worth using our claim spot on. We were hoping that Chris Henry would slide through waivers, but those are the breaks."...the team did make a move late last week when it picked up rookie TE Owen Daniels. He will serve as L.J. Smith's backup, but the team didn't want to wait until Smith's bye week to pick up a TE. Michael Turner, who's name had barely been stitched on his jersey, was released to make room for Daniels...kicker John Carney is excited about being back with the Puffins, but even more excited about being back in the Superdome. "Did you hear that crowd?" asked Carney. "I was fu#@ing jacked. I mean, I coulda kicked a fu%*ing 60-yarder had they wanted me to." Thanks John. Easy on the f-bombs...Eli Manning & Michael Clayton are the only two Puffins with bye weeks this week. Manning, who was spotted at Pike Place Fish Market in Seattle Saturday evening with a female companion, was asked to keep a blog of his week away from the action, but declined. Manning said, "There'll be plenty of action on my bye week, if you know what I mean. You want me to blog that?" Actually, yes Eli, we do. He said he'll consider it. We have our fingers crossed. May our prayers be answered.
