Puffins Notebook: One game lead

With last week's loss to the Carpetbaggers the Horned Puffins have seen their lead in the Black division dwindle to one game over both the Buffet Boys and the De-pressers. "We're lucky to still be in first," stated GM Derek Harlan. "We haven't played too well lately. Part of that is due to the fact that our receivers haven't done squat. The other part is the guy that sets the lineup each week has been asleep at the wheel. He needs to get his head out of his ass and stop complaining about his players. Maybe if he did his job a little better he won't have to throw his players under the bus." Alrightythen.

In other news...
...the team wasted no time in dropping TE David Martin following the Eagles bye week, picking up WR Joe Jurevicius once the free pickups began. "We had a few guys we had our eye on and decided to give Joe a shot," said Harlan. "He's been banged up most of the year and is just now getting healthy. Plus, Winslow's knees may not make it through the entire season which would make Joe a nice play if the matchup was there."...RB Willis McGahee has helped clear up the backfield logjam by breaking three ribs this past week against the Packers. He is out indefinitely. "We're actually gonna play a kicker at OC this week-we need some points from that spot and with Leon Washington going against the Patriots he's not the best option," stated Harlan...Nice to see Georgia Tech WR Calvin Johnson get some love in a recent issue of SI. "He's the real deal," according to Harlan. "Realer than Real Deal Holyfield. I'd probably dump Greg Jennings for him in next year's rookie draft and that's saying something cause I really like Jennings."...Eli Manning broke his silence this week to us here at tkn2 saying that he has his reasons for giving us the recent cold shoulder. Turns out Eli watched Bull Durham several times over the summer and said that he'll talk to us when his Giants lose. Seems as though this winning streak has him thinking that by avoiding us it's helping his team win. Maybe Eli is growing up and maturing a bit. Excuse us while we dry our eyes.
