10 Days & Counting

Major League Baseball's regular season is winding down-we are down to ten days left until postseason play begins. The Knights still hold a double-digit lead in the standings and are beginning to feel the excitement of a possible MVRL championship.

"Yea, we've battled all year and we can see the light at the end of the tunnel," said Knights catcher and former Kamikaze Mike Piazza. "But let's be honest here, this isn't about the Knights. It's about me. I'm married to a former Playboy Playmate. And just for the record-I'm not gay." Okay, thanks Mike.

POY candidate Morgan Ensberg offered his take as well, "I've had a decent year, but it's just fun playing with guys who love to play the game. Guys like D (P Dontrelle Willis) and Jose (Reyes) have been big all year, but we really aren't a one-man show."

With players like Ensberg, Willis, Reyes, and Cliff Floyd all having big years, it will be tough to pick a Player of the Year. "We feel the reason why we are where we are is because, as a group, these guys have come to the park ready to compete every day and that's what it takes in this game," said owner/GM Derek Harlan. "To not know who to pick as the POY is a credit to the guys in that clubhouse." When pinned down for an answer though, Harlan had this to say, "It's hard to imagine anyone being more important than Dontrelle. He just got off to such an amazing start and even though he hit a rough stetch this summer, he has really rebounded well down the stretch. We'll probably nominate a few guys and let the owners around the league vote and take that into consideration before selecting a POY, but let's not get ahead of ourselves here, we still got over a week left in the season."

The Knights are trying to hold off former champ Marc Daniels and his Double Down, who are currently in second place.
