Puffins Notebook: RB merry-go-round
The transactions keep coming for the Horned Puffins. Late last week the team added RB Leon Washington and the Vikings D, dropping WR Mark Clayton and the Redskins D. This week, after deciding not to put a claim in for RB Vernand Morency, the team was fortunate enough to see him go unclaimed and picked him up without using its waiver pick. Did you get all that? Add Morency, drop Washington (Leon, not the Redskins D-they were already dropped for the Vikes D. Huh?)
"It's not as much a matter of us liking Morency as it is the likelihood of Ahman Green getting injured again and missing a significant amount of time," said GM Derek Harlan. "Morency did show some potential against the Eagles on MNF, and we had the room for him, so we're taking a chance. Hell, who am I kidding, he'll probably be gone by Friday."
In other news...
the team's 3-1 start has them atop the Orange Division and currently #1 in the power rankings. "We like our club, but we need a few guys to step up their game-mainly Chris Chambers, and we wouldn't mind adding another solid WR. We don't want to cut ties with Michael Clayton just yet, but he needs to produce if we're going to have him in the active lineup," said Harlan...Harlan has made it no secret which team he sees as the most dangerous-the Kamikaze Maddogs. "If you look at their team, what really jumps out at you is the depth. Bye weeks are not an issue with that club and that is scary for their opposition."...with the MLB Playoffs getting under way this week, team members are not hiding their loyalties. "Me, I'm a big Yankees fan, always have been," said RB Willis McGahee. LaDainian Tomlinson keeps it local, saying "Since I came here (to San Diego), I've been tight with a lot of those guys-especially Trevor Hoffman-so that's who I'm rooting for." David Carr, obviously not worrying about what the brass may think of his statements, has one team he's rooting for. "Yea, whoever is playing the Cardinals," states Carr.
"Being in Houston, I'm a big Astros fan and we don't care much for the Cards. In fact, I hate them, their manager, and their fans." Thanks, Mr. Carr. We'll be sure to inform owner/GM/Cards fan Derek Harlan about your feelings...and finally, we have this from Eli Manning. Regarding his bye week and the requested blog, Eli states "I didn't keep some stupid blog. I didn't do sh!t on my bye week. No hookups, no clubbing, no nothing. You want me to blog that? It was a boring week. By the end of the week I was debating watching some porn, it was that bad." Our many thanks for those comments Eli, but in the future, please know that there are some things that you should just keep to yourself!
