Puffins Notebook: the Williams Trio

Tuesday's midnight claim deadline brought another new face to the Horned Puffins in WR Reggie Williams. Reggie becomes the third Williams wide receiver on the Puffins' roster, joining Roy and Mike.

"I'm excited someone wanted me," said Reggie. "I came into the Cove this morning and accidentially put on Roy's practice jersey (Roy wears Reggie's #11 and has R. Williams on the back), so I guess I'll get a fresh start with a new number. Maybe double zero. Can I have that?"
Aaah, no.

Reggie Williams' arrival sends Tyrone Calico packing for the second time this season. "We thought that playing the Rams in the Dome might be what he needed to get going, but it's obvious that he pretty much sucks," stated Derek Harlan of Calico. "I took a chance on him twice, but it's all good in the hood."

Reggie is nonetheless happy to be a Puffin. "Yea, I hope I can get a start in the next few weeks. I'm a little bummed I didn't get to eat some sliders with Roy and Mike on Sunday, but we can hang later."

Harlan admitted adding Williams could be a sign of things to come. "He's the #2 guy in Jacksonville and teams are starting to figure out that Jimmy Smith is still pretty darn good, so Reg should start getting some more balls thrown his way. Plus, we are in early discussions with a few teams about potential trades, so he may be in the lineup by default. We'll see."
