Busch Stadium Memories: #10-Laga's Magical Night

If I told you that moment #10 occurred in a September game between the Mets & Cards in the '80s, you'd probably think that Darryl Strawberry hit the scoreboard or Doc Gooden and John Tudor where locked in a pitcher's dual. If I told you that the final score was 1-0 in a game that went into extra innings, you'd think it must have been a game for the ages.
Well, you'd be wrong on all accounts.
Does the name Mike Laga ring a bell?

September 15, 1986 was the date and because Chris Kirk tells a pretty good story himself and because I'm feeling incredibly lazy right now, I'm going to let him tell the story. Just click here.

Great stuff. In fact, after reading Kirk's top 5, I had completely forgotten about the Cardinals 19-inning game where Oquendo pitched. That should've made honorable mention. Thanks Chris for telling the story. I just wish that the picture from our seats still showed the field with the turf. Also, Kirk forgot to mention that on the way to the game that night he refused to trade me one of his three '86 Fleer Jose Canseco/Eric Plunk Rookie Cards. I think I even offered up one of my two '85 Topps Doc Gooden Rookies. I think today that would've been like giving him three dimes for a quarter, but in September of '86 we were high rollers.

One last note on Laga, for those of you who don't mind reading funny things that include some pretty nasty language (warning: the f-bomb is dropped quite frequently) you need to read another Laga article I found. Be sure to read the comments at the bottom. Quality stuff. Just click on this.
