Puffins Notebook: Lee Evans Added to Roster

The Horned Puffins were not the only team this week failing to submit a claim by the midnight deadline-no one did! However, the Wednesday morning feeding frenzy got kicked off in high gear as many owners were busy shuffling their rosters. The Puffins, fearing a Notebook post without a new player to feature, decided to snag Maddog reject Lee Evans. Getting the boot was last week's pickup, Michael Jenkins.
"We liked Lee at the draft, but quite frankly, he's stunk it up so bad this year that I don't blame Scott for dropping him," stated GM Derek Harlan. "But you have to remember that his QB the first five weeks of the season couldn't start in the South Seven, let alone the AFC East. I think he's a guy we can play as a 4th receiver and expect to get some production out of as he gets back on track with his new QB."

...the Puffins got some immediate production from WR Reggie Wayne on Monday Night as he caught a TD pass from Peyton Manning. Jimmy Smith, however, failed to score as he was up against a tough Steelers D...Willis McGahee took the high road when asked about his departure from the team. "I can't dog a guy trying to win right now. I know we cool-I saw him wearing my jersey the other day-so I wish the team the best. Besides, I go from playing with L.T. to playing with Edge, so it's all good."...WR Michael Jenkins was not surprised to find out he was leaving the Cove, stating "I knew I had to perform Sunday against the Saints and I didn't get it done, so I got nobody to blame but me."...RB Reuben Droughns offered this after Tuesday's light workout, "I told y'all to watch out for dem White Sox. Dey rollin' and be fittin' to take da Championship."...Among the text messages received by Albert Pujols following his Game 5 home run was one from Tom Brady. Brady and Pujols met doing some PR work for the United Way in the offseason. "That was classic and I'm really pulling for the Cardinals," said Brady. "I know that's probably not a popular thing to say here in Boston, but they do things the right way and have a bunch of good guys on that team."...QB Eli Manning is coming off a loss in Dallas, but remains confident. "It was a tough loss, but it didn't stop my cell phone from blowing up with hot chicks calling me," said Manning. "I could really use another bye week because when I was in Texas, I heard that Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachay are breaking up and she really wants to meet me. How great is that?"
