TMC-Week 6
Sorry that you're getting the morning news at night, but these baseball playoffs are killing me. Albert Pujols, you da man! With Week 6 ending in a Rams' loss at Indy, we close the book on the week that was. Speaking of Indy, does anyone else think that the buzzing bees sound played at Enron, I mean Minute Maid, sounds a little more like the Brickyard rather than a ballyard? Just curious. Anyway, the MVRL had a few barnburners this week, so rather than talk about the playoffs or Rams, let's just review the games that really matter...
Daniels 74, Hud 58 (prediction: Daniels 87, Hud 77)
Though not as many points were scored in this one as I thought would be, the score could've been much different. Hud had Delhomme (241 yds), Heap (79 yds), & the Colts D (105 rush yds allowed) just missing out on an additional 21 points. Ouch. Nonetheless, it's another W for the Double Down. It may, however, come at a cost as Daniels holds his breath with Randy Moss's injured groin.
Game ball goes to-Chad Johnson. 8 catches, 135 yds, & a TD. 16 pts.Crapshoot 98, Carpetbaggers 79 (prediction: Crapshoot 73, Carpetbaggers 59)
Fagan is in an interesting spot at this point. A great effort from Mark Brunell and Rod Smith move him to 2-4 for the year. Is he a buyer or seller in the upcoming weeks? Meanwhile, the Baggers give a nice effort with some key players on their bye week.
Game ball goes to-Detroit Lions D. The Lions had a huge game against the Panthers scoring 2 TDs along the way. 33 pts.
Benchpressers 95, Buffet Boys 77 (prediction: BP 94, BB 85)
I wasn't too far off on this one and I write that because I was wrong on the next three. The big trade between Wes and Troy paid immediate dividends for both squads, as the great Carson Palmer continued his hot streak in Tennessee. A big game from Chris Brown helped as well. Hoffman, you need to go light a fire under Peyton Manning and tell Coach Dungy to hell with running the ball!
Game ball goes to-Jacksonville Jaguars D. In a showdown with the Steelers, the Jags beat up on poor Tommy Maddox to the tune of 34 pts (and an OT interception returned for a TD).

Horned Puffins 108, Creamers 62 (prediction: Creamers 86, Puffins 79) I'm not sure I can jinx LaDainian Tomlinson. He's been on fire and there's no way for him to keep it up, right? So he just goes out and hits the Touchdown Trifecta. The fact that he was joined in the lineup by six others scoring in double-digits helped as well. What sucks about this game? I usually beat Pietsch in the regular season and he usually beats me in the playoffs. Good times.
Game ball goes to-Who else? LaDainian Tomlinson. He caught, ran, and threw TDs. 183 total yds and 26 pts.
Rampage 125, Kamikaze Maddogs 124 (prediction: Dogs 101, Rams 94)Wow. It's a shame someone has to lose a game like this. Seriously. I just checked my DIRECTV menu for tomorrow night and this game is on ESPN Classic beginning at 7:00 p.m. A lot of big-time players had big-time games. Scott gets 47 points from Santana Moss and Jeremy Shockey, but it's not enough to catch Mr. Milt and his horse Shaun Alexander. I could go on and on about this game, but I won't. Good game to the both of you.
Game ball goes to-Shaun Alexander. Bringing his career TD total on ESPN Sunday Night Football to 683, Alexander went for 142 total yds and 4 TDs. 31 pts.
It's worth mentioning that Milt also got 32 pts from the Panthers D. That means both the Lions and Panthers scored over 30 pts against each other. Has that ever happened before in this league? 30 points each. That's some bad QB'ing.
Pietschskins 82, Burrowing Owls 70 (prediction: Owls 90, Skins 60)
The bye week and injuries to Julius Jones and Hines Ward really hurt TQ in this one, but give Troy some credit. He pulls off two blockbuster trades in a matter of about 48 hours and is immediately rewarded for them. Edge and McGahee were big. Troy will still win some games this year and will have arguably the best keepers in the league next year.
Game ball goes to-Edgerrin James. 159 yds and 3 TDs in his Pietschskin debut. 28 pts.
Be sure to get your claims in by midnight tonight.
(Unless you don't really want Jamie Martin)
And GO CARDS!!!
