Week 8 MVRL Predictions

I usually have a bit of an intro here, but I'm not feeling it this week. I'm not really sure why, but I'm not. I was 4-2 last week, which gets me to 20-22 for the year. That's decent isn't it? Oh, it sucks? Alrightythen. Here we go...

Hitters @ Benchpressers
The name change game. Can I offer Wes a suggestion? How about if Hud loses, he drops "Hitters" and replaces it with "masterbating again." That way everytime we see his team name on the website it reads "Hudnall's masterbating again." Hey, it's just a suggestion.
As for the game itself, I think it's a toss-up. Wes should get big games from his QBs (Palmer & Collins) and Kevin Curtis. I expect Hud to get the same from WRs Steve Smith and Antonio Bryant, and the Patriots D. So who do I pick? I'll follow rule #2: Always pick the team that has Carson Palmer. Wes 81, Hud 78.

Crapshoot @ Creamers
In previewing this game I have to ask: Am I the only one who thinks that Clinton Portis's head is way too small for his body? Check out his mugshot and get back to me on that. Thanks.
The Crapshoot have arguably the hottest QB going in Mark Brunell, two ageless wonders at WR (Keenan McCardell & Rod Smith), and a defense that's averaging over 20 points a game. The Creamers counter with a suddenly-hot LaMont Jordan, Eli Manning's main man Plaxico Burress, and a 1970s-porn star-looking-QB in Jake Plummer (evidently Jake was absent on make-up picture day). This one should be close as well, but just as I don't pick against Carson Palmer, I don't pick for Jake Plummer. Ryan F. 107, Ryan P. 98.

Buffet Boys @ Kamikaze Maddogs
I shouldn't do this, but I'm going to anyway...I'm taking Scott in a blowout. I love Byron Leftwich against the Rams and picking up Reggie Williams for this game was a nice move. Hoffman's receivers have nice matchups and the Bucs D gets the sorry-(butt) 49ers, but it ain't gonna be enough. Scott 100, Eric 75.

Horned Puffins @ Burrowing Owls
Thus far, the Puffins have been carried by LaDainian Tomlinson and the weakest schedule in the league. Those trends have a good chance to continue this week as LT looks to rebound from last week's debacle in Philly and the Owls are dealing with the bye week for Warrick Dunn & Alge Crumpler, and injuries to Julius Jones and Torry Holt. What does that mean? Probably a Puffin win, but I once was told that if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Therefore, I'm picking the Owls to win the battle of the birds. TQ 98, DH 89.

Double Down @ Rampage
I haven't shown the Rampage much love this year and I'm not too sure why. Probably because of all the injuries they've had to deal with. This week is a good example of Milt's bad luck-two of his best players (Marc Bulger & Joe Horn) are not playing, and Shaun Alexander is on his bye week. Daniels, on the other hand, appears to be getting healthy (Cadillac Williams & Randy Moss) and looks ready to string together some W's-beginning this week. Daniels 110, Milt 95.

Carpetbaggers @ Pietschskins
It looks like it could be a tough week for Troy. New franchise RB Edgerrin James is on a bye, along with Dallas Clark. And Lavereonueauaouuuouauaeas Coles. And the Jets D. Ouch. Al, fresh off last week's big win against Hudnall, hopes to make it two in a row. Getting big games from his QBs (Culpeppers & Brees) and WRs (Boldin, Keyshawn, & Shaun McDonald) should make it happen. Al 83, Troy 67.

Good luck to one and all and good luck to the Mt. Vernon Rams. Though some alumni may work for the enemy (actually, there's only one that I know of) we, or I, am still rooting for you.
